Meet our Teachers
Andrea Baird
I am the owner of Painted Bloom Farm and Nature School. I am a certified Nature School teacher and Nature Journaling Educator and am passionate about the opportunities we provide for children here at our farm. I am the mother of seven wonderful children and six darling grandchildren who are the joy of my life. Besides being a nature school teacher, I am a lover of the natural world, an artist and a cut flower farmer. As a child I spent hours roaming the woods, climbing trees and exploring the creek beds near our home. I became deeply connected to nature and felt a tangible sense of peace and joy that sustained me throughout my childhood. Since my husbands passing in 2018 I have found a deep sense of personal mission in providing opportunities for children to connect with the natural world. Combining my love for children, nature and art has made my life more joyful than I could have ever imagined. I wholeheartedly believe in what we provide for our students here on our little farm and look forward to every beautiful day!

Although my degree is in International Studies (with an area emphasis in East and Southeast Asia and a minor in English), I’ve made a career working with children. I’ve spent time as a mentor for at-risk youth in the community, an ESL teacher in Taiwan and China, and five years as a behavioral health specialist working with public school students. My work in behavioral health was emotionally demanding and often felt like a band-aid solution to much deeper systemic problems. The ideas behind nature-immersion get to the root of what children need to thrive and build resilience: autonomy, respect for individual needs, connection to the natural world, a deep sense of friendship and community, playfulness, curiosity, and creativity.
I love the outdoors and spend as much of my summers as I can out camping and hiking with my dogs. I have a deep love and appreciation for this earth and all it has to teach us. Foraging for edible plants, using natural plant dyes, raising animals, and microbiology are a few of my passions I love sharing with our nature school students.

Hi there! I’m Kate — lover of picnics, flower-pressing, and the magic of childhood wonder. I graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Child Development and Family Studies, focusing on outdoor education and the preschool years. I’ve had the joy of working at the Wild Beginnings Nature School in Boise, as well as starting Evergreen Nature School in Logan, Utah before moving here to Twin Falls. I’m especially inspired by Waldorf and Montessori approaches and the way they honor the whole child. When I’m not exploring nature with little ones you can find me soaking up every moment with my husband- most likely with a tub of ice cream in hand. I’m so excited to grow roots here in Twin Falls and share in the wonder of nature with your little ones!
